You must have recently successfully completed "Use Breathing Apparatus in the Workplace" (MSAPMOHS216A). You must wear appropriate personal protective equipment.

This course is designed for those who have previously completed the Use Breathing Apparatus course and are required to operate self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) in confined spaces or emergencies (such as retrieving persons from dangerous situations). It is recommended that this course be completed annually in keeping with the Australian Standards. Participants will review the following topics, covered in the Use Breathing Apparatus one day course.

Participants will learn:

  • About the safe use, selection, operation and servicing of SCBA.
  • About the contents of the atmosphere.
  • About hazardous environments.
  • About SCBA components and pre-operational checks.
  • Safe working practices.
  • Search and rescue techniques.
