Prerequisites

You must wear protective work wear (safety boots and gloves) for the practical assessment.

This nationally recognised course in Safe Working at Heights is designed to assist employers and employees in understanding the characteristics, hazards and legislative requirements needed to operate safely at height. The course is a balanced mix of theory content and class participation. Assessment consists of written responses to questions and observation of practical skills.

Participants will learn:

  • About definitions and terminology as per Australian Standard 1891.1:2007.
  • About Industrial Fall Arrest Systems.
  • To review relevant legislation and the Code of Practice.
  • To review case studies of unsafe work practices.
  • About types of fall prevention equipment and their use.
  • To inspect fall prevention equipment.
  • To perform risk assessment of a work area and select required equipment.
  • About suspension trauma.
  • About the roles and responsibilities of key personnel.
