This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to undertake butt fusion welding of pressurised polyethylene pipelines in accordance with Australian Standards and manufacturers’ specifications. These skills are often applied in the following industries:

  • Gas distribution.
  • Water reticulation and treatment.
  • Irrigation.
  • Mining.
  • Agriculture and aquaculture.

Participants will learn:

  • About OHS requirements when undertaking polyethylene welding.
  • About the properties and characteristics of polyethylene pipe.
  • About pre-weld pipe cleaning and correct butt weld face preparation and alignment.
  • To perform heat and soak-time parameter calculations.
  • To use and calibrate butt welding machine.
  • About approved weld testing requirements.
