TASMANIAN SKILLS INSTITUTE BOARD DIRECTOR
Operating as a Statutory Authority, the Tasmanian Skills Institute is a Government owned Registered Training Organisation that provides workforce skills development services to industry.
The seven member Board is established under the Education and Training (Tasmanian Skills Institute) Act 2008 and is appointed by the Minister for Education and Skills. The Board provides governance and direction and ensures the strategic goals, as outlined in the Corporate Plan, are met.
The Act requires that vacancies are advertised in at least three daily newspapers circulating in Tasmania.
Retiring directors may apply and, if eligible, may be reappointed.
In appointing Directors, the Minister will have regard to the need for the directors together to have:
- Knowledge and skills necessary to ensure that the functions of the Skills Institute are performed competently;
- Business and financial skills;
- An understanding of the education and training environment and skill development needs in the community and industry.
Directors are entitled to remuneration, currently set at $17,000pa, and reimbursement of certain expenses.
