SIVAN SHINING ROLE MODEL

Sivan Mahmud has had many experiences since emigrating to Australia with his family from Turkey in 2003.

Sivan attended Don College in Devonport, completing Year 11 and obtaining his Certificate 1 in Automotive studies.

After beginning his apprenticeship at Cesco (Complete Engine Services) in 2007, he attended Burnie and Alanvale TSI for his first year of training.

Sivan then moved interstate, attending the Kangan Institute in Melbourne to complete his Certificate III in Automotive Specialist (Engine Reconditioning).

Now, eight years after first moving to Australia, Sivan has completed his Automotive Apprenticeship.

TSI Teacher and Apprentice/Employer Liaison John Kluyt said he was very pleased with Sivan’s progress since the Mahmuds’ decision to move to Tasmania.

“I couldn’t be prouder of the way Sivan has developed, both professionally and personally, since he started studying,” Mr Kluyt said.

“He is a fantastic role model for any international student thinking of entering a trade or vocational placement. Of course there have been ups and downs along the way, but the way he has continued to apply himself to his studies shows real perseverance and depth of character.”
